More than half of the country is under water. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Sindh provinces continue to receive heavy rains for the second day in a row. News agency PTI reports that Sindh and Balochistan were the worst hit. Railway services were suspended at many places in these areas. Pakistan International Airlines suspended flights to Balochistan’s provincial capital Quetta on Friday due to bad weather.
Heavy rain is expected to continue till August 30. The current political crisis in Pakistan has also affected flood rehabilitation activities. The UN Central Emergency Response Fund has already allocated $3 million to Pakistan.
