The government of Pakistan, which is facing severe financial crisis, has increased the price of petrol and diesel by 35 Pakistani rupees per litre.
Currently, petrol is priced at 250 Pakistani rupees and high speed diesel at 263 rupees. The Pakistani rupee has hit a record low of 262 rupees against the dollar.
Pakistan is seeking immediate financial assistance from the IMF as its foreign exchange has dwindled to 3.7 billion dollars and the government is on the brink of bankruptcy.
