Paris – Moroccan Azeddine Nouiri won the silver medal in the shot put (F34) on Saturday during the Paralympic Games being held in Paris.

Nouiri won bronze with a throw of 11.70 m, one centimeter away from Colombian Mauricio Valencia (11.71 m), who won gold.

The bronze medal went to Jordanian Ahmad Hindi with a performance of 11.66 m.

In a statement to the press, the Moroccan athlete stressed that he dreamed of offering Morocco a second gold medal, expressing his regret at settling for silver with one centimeter behind the winner.

He expressed, on this occasion, his satisfaction with this silver medal which will consolidate Morocco’s position in the medal table.

This feat brings Morocco’s harvest to 9 medals, 1 in gold, 4 in silver and as many in bronze. The silver medals were won by Youssra Karim in the discus throw (F41), Fatima Zahra El Idrissi in the 1500 m (T13) and Abdelilah Gani (F53) in the shot put, while the bronze medals were won by Saida Amoudi in the shot put (F34), Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100 m competition (T47), Ayoub Adouich (-63 kg/K44) and Rajae Akarmach (+65 kg/K44) in para-taekwondo.
