Parents of multiple children, receive up to 50% refund on transportation expenses… K-Pass target expanded to 210 locations nationwide

by times news cr

Starting this year, parents of multi-child households with two or more children will receive up to 50% of their transportation costs back when they use public transportation with the ‘K-Pass’.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Metropolitan Transportation Committee announced on the 2nd that it will introduce a new multi-child household type in K-Pass starting this year. K-Pass is a transportation card that provides a refund for a certain percentage of transportation expenses in the following month, up to 60 times per month, if you use public transportation more than 15 times a month. The default refund rate is 20%. In the meantime, additional refund benefits were provided to young people (30%) and low-income people (53.3%), but the target was expanded to include households with multiple children.

The refund rate for multi-child households is 30% for two children and 50% for three or more children. For example, if a parent in his 40s with three children rode public transportation 60 times in a month with a fare of 1,500 won, he would receive an additional refund of 27,000 won.

To receive benefits for a multi-child household, at least one child must be under the age of 18. You can receive benefits by accessing the K-Pass application or website and completing the ‘multi-child household’ certification. Starting this year, K-Pass can also be used in 21 local governments, including Gimje in Jeollabuk-do, Mungyeong in Gyeongbuk, and Sokcho in Gangwon-do. Accordingly, the number of local governments participating in K-Pass increased from 189 to 210.
