Interview with Youssef Mustafa, Assistant Director of the Kirkuk Statistics Directorate
Time.news Editor (TNE): Thank you for joining us today, Mr. Mustafa. Can you share with our readers the significance of the recent general census of population and housing in Kirkuk?
Youssef Mustafa (YM): Thank you for having me. The general census is crucial as it provides vital data about our population and housing conditions in the governorate of Kirkuk. With 5,652 researchers and supervisors participating, the census aims to create a comprehensive statistical profile that can inform government policies and ensure resources are allocated effectively.
TNE: That’s a sizable team of researchers. How have the citizens of Kirkuk responded to this census initiative?
YM: The response from the citizens has been overwhelmingly positive. We have seen great cooperation, with residents actively providing the needed information to our research teams. Cooperation is essential for the success of the census, and we are pleased that the community is engaged in this process.
TNE: Could you elaborate on the security measures that are in place to ensure a smooth and safe census operation?
YM: Of course. The census process is closely monitored by the Operations Command and the Police Command. We have established security protocols to protect both the census teams and the citizens. The operations room oversees everything to ensure that the process adheres to these security measures, allowing us to overcome any potential difficulties safely.
TNE: As an expert in statistics, what broader implications do you foresee from the data collected during this census?
YM: The implications are significant. The data will not only reflect the demographic changes in Kirkuk but also guide economic planning, infrastructure development, and social services. Accurate statistics can lead to more tailored services that meet the specific needs of our population, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.
TNE: What practical advice would you offer to citizens who may still have questions or concerns about participating in the census?
YM: My advice would be to engage with the census teams and ask questions if unsure about anything. It’s important for citizens to understand that the data collected is confidential and used exclusively for statistical purposes. Their participation is vital and will contribute to the development and future planning of our city.
TNE: Thank you for sharing these insights, Mr. Mustafa. Is there anything else you’d like to add to encourage participation in the census?
YM: Yes, I’d like to remind everyone that the census is a reflection of our community. Every individual counts, and their input shapes our future. By participating, citizens are taking an active role in ensuring that Kirkuk develops in a way that meets the needs of its residents. Thank you for the opportunity to discuss this important topic.
TNE: Thank you, Mr. Mustafa. It has been a pleasure speaking with you and learning more about this essential initiative in Kirkuk.
