Survivor Star Parvati Shallow Comes Out as Gay and Introduces New Partner Mae Martin
Parvati Shallow, best known for being the $1 million winner on Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites, has come out as gay on social media. The 41-year-old reality star uploaded a sweet Instagram photo with her partner, 36-year-old comedian Mae Martin, to share the big news while heading into the New Year.
In the photo, Shallow and Martin are seen cozying up next to each other in black and white snapshots taken in a photo booth. The Instagram post was captioned, “We’re here. We’re queer. Happy new year,” signaling that Shallow is embracing her true self and her new relationship.
The couple was met with an outpouring of support from fans and friends in the comments section. Authors Adam Grant and Evan Ross Katz expressed their excitement, as well as many other fans who congratulated the couple on their newfound happiness.
Shallow, who was previously married to fellow Survivor alum John Fincher, began dating him in 2014 and the pair tied the knot in 2017. The couple welcomed their daughter, Ama, in July 2018. However, in August 2021, Shallow filed for divorce from Fincher and later requested a temporary domestic violence restraining order against him. She alleged that he had been physically and verbally aggressive towards her.
Despite the struggles in her past relationship, Shallow is now focused on her new journey with Martin and is also slated to appear in the second season of Peacock’s competition series titled, The Traitors, which is set to air in January 2024. Shallow recently told Parade that she feels like she’s “in a movie playing a character, but I’m myself” and is looking forward to this new opportunity.
In her recent Instagram announcement, Shallow expressed the joy of embracing her true self and her new relationship. With all the love and support from fans and friends, Shallow and Martin are now heading into the New Year together with newfound happiness and excitement for the future.
