After the German national team’s 1-0 win against the Netherlands, Christoph Kramer and Per Mertesacker made the remaining fans in Munich’s Allianz Arena laugh. The two 2014 world champions, who stood alongside presenter Jochen Breyer as TV experts for ZDF on Monday evening, fulfilled a special wish for the cheerful viewers.
“Kramer’s hair is beautiful,” was the resounding tone, whereupon the ZDF trio had to interrupt their conversation and start laughing. But that wasn’t all. “Merte, do a somersault,” was the next chant.
The former national player reacted with amusement and said that floor exercise was one of his weaker disciplines at school. Breyer asked whether Mertesacker could even do a somersault. The 40-year-old then continued his analysis – in order to fulfill the request later.
At the end of the TV broadcast, Mertesacker took off his jacket and performed a somersault on the lawn of the Allianz Arena in front of the fans, earning cheering applause. Breyer filmed the scene and posted it on Instagram. Kramer joined in the chanting and watched the somersault, visibly amused.
