Under the motto of Peru‘s 2024 APEC presidency “Empower. Take into account. Crecer”, Peru is getting rid of the leaders of the main economies of the world, including the United States, Russia, Japan, Australia, Singapore, among others.
The Forum for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) consists of 21 Asia-Pacific economies and is considered the most dynamic region in the world. It aims to promote greater prosperity for the bloc by implementing the so-called Putrajaya APEC Vision 2020-2040, which identifies three pillars: Trade and Investment; Innovation and Digitalisation; Strong, Balanced, Safe, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth.
The event will be in Lima between November 10 and 16, at the Lima Convention Center. Among the leaders who will be present will be the president of the United States, Joe Biden, and the president of China, Xi Jinping.
This will be the third time that Peru will host (2008 and 2016).
Peru, as a host economy, held more than 240 working meetings this year, in different cities of the country, such as Trujillo, Pucallpa and Lima, implementing a decentralized and participatory approach.
Each of the meetings has generated deliverables, that is, key outcomes that record agreement by consensus among all 21 APEC member economies.
Peru’s leadership of APEC Peru 2024 is a great opportunity to promote Peru’s global involvement and Peru’s strengthening to face the major socio-economic challenges, through economic and technical cooperation.
