Gloria Foods -food company and part of the Peruvian conglomerate Grupo Gloria– signed a purchase and sale contract to acquire 100% of the shares of Ecuajugos SAa company belonging to Nestlé Ecuador and specialized in the sale of dairy products and juices.

This way, the holding company was left with an Ecuajugos factory and distribution centerlocated in Cayambe, the third largest and most populated city in the Province of Pichincha.

Besides, This agreement included the purchase of local brands such as La Vaquita, Yogu Yogu, Natura, Cereavena and Huesitos; and the licensing for Ecuador of the global brands La Lechera and Svelty.

“This important acquisition responds to our objective of strengthen the presence of the holding in the Ecuadorian market and the region”declared Claudio Rodriguez, president of Gloria Foods.

The executive added that this transaction will strengthen its regional platform in Latin Americaas well as continue bringing quality and experience to the countries where the brand is present.

The agreement It was announced this Friday to the Superintendence of the Securities Market of Peru (SMV) and detailed the transaction by the selling companies Societé Des Produits Nestlé SA and Nestlé SA, which acted as guarantors of Nestlé Ecuador SA

For the closing of this transaction to be completed, a series of precedent conditions stipulated in the contract must be met, including obtaining the authorization from the Superintendency of Economic Competition of Ecuador.

When these conditions are met, it will be the Peruvian conglomerate that will inform the market of the closing of the transaction and the takeover by Gloria Foods SA.

Last year, the Gloria Group also made an important transaction by purchasing the Chilean company Soprole, one of the main dairy brands in that country.
