Peskov announced the access of security officials to the data of users of public services

The data contained on the portal of state services is available by law to law enforcement agencies, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“All passport data, they are all available to the security forces, there are photographs, and so on, so there is really nothing like that here,” Peskov said.

Earlier today, the Kommersant newspaper reported that the Moscow government plans to improve the mos.ru portal of state and municipal services so that users’ photos are uploaded to the face recognition system used by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Moscow Department of Information Technologies denied this information. They noted that portal users can independently upload their photos to apply for some government services, for example, to obtain a hunting ticket. At the same time, uploading photos is optional, and personal information of users is protected by law.
