The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov suggested waiting for clarifications from the Ministry of Tsifra regarding the bill proposed by the department that would allow the state media to avoid being included in the register of foreign agents. A representative of the Kremlin told reporters about this.

“In any case, this will require some changes in the law on the media, because the law on the media has some kind of differentiation in our country according to the criterion of ownership, such differentiation is not provided for in our country. Therefore, explanations should come from the ministry, ”said Peskov.

On October 19, the Ministry of Finance proposed to expand the list of mass media that may not report to Roskomnadzor on receiving funds from foreign sources. Of the proposed amendments to Art. 19.2 of the Law on Mass Media it follows that this provision of the law should not apply to mass media founded by federal government bodies or financed by subsidies from the budget.

Representatives of foreign media that operate in Russia with the permission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as media created within the framework of international treaties of Russia, may not report to Roskomnadzor now.
