Four months after moving from FC St.Gallen to VfL Bochum, coach Peter Zeidler’s time is already up. He was released on Sunday afternoon.
Peter Zeidler did not succeed in Bochum. Now he has to go.
Bundesliga club VfL Bochum responded to the false start to the season by sacking coach Peter Zeidler with immediate effect. Sporting director Marc Lettau also has to go.
Despite “many discussions and efforts,” there were “no significant improvements,” the club announced one day after the 3-1 loss to Hoffenheim. After seven games, VfL Bochum has just one point.
First dismissal this season
Zeidler only took up his role at the start of this season as the successor to interim coach Heiko Butscher. Now he is the first Bundesliga coach to leave this season.
“There is no certainty that VfL can achieve the goal of staying in the league with the current constellation of personnel,” the press release said.
Zeidler: “I am hard-working and competent”

Lettau was promoted to sporting director in July 2023. With this step, the club expanded the area of responsibility of the previous technical director. Since then, Lettau has been responsible for squad planning and scouting and headed the licensed players department.
VfL lost 3-1 at TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday and now have just one point after seven games. Zeidler only assumed his role at the beginning of this season.
The Swabian was previously a coach at FC St.Gallen for six years. (said)
