This Friday (12), the Federal Police (PF) opened a police investigation to investigate the alleged fraud in the affiliation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to the Liberal Party, the acronym of former president Jair Bolsonaro.
On Wednesday (10), the minister of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Alexandre de Moraes, sent the PF a compilation of information about the case. According to the Court Technicians’ investigation, Lula’s inclusion in the PL membership system was carried out using a password in the name of a lawyer who provides services to the party.
The PF investigation is being carried out in secret at the PF Cybercrime Directorate.
The system states that, since July 15, 2023, Lula was disconnected from the PT, the party of which he is the founder and main name. The date is the same as that which records his alleged affiliation with the PL.
This Friday morning, the TSE ordered the Federal Police to investigate Lula’s affiliation with the opposing party.
In the letter, Moraes attested that it was “notorious” that Lula is a member of the Workers’ Party (PT), an acronym of which he is the founder and honorary president. According to the minister, there is “the existence of evidence of crime resulting from the insertion of false data in an electoral system.” Through a note, the TSE said that “there are clear signs of ideological falsehood.”
According to the TSE, “there was no attack on the system or failure in its programming. What happened was the use of valid credentials to register a new false membership.”
The PL sent a press release signed by the company Idatha, responsible for data management with the Filia system. The company stated that it was fully available to the authorities to clarify the case.
“It is crucial to highlight that the entire flow of any eventual affiliation is recorded in the system, which maintains auditable information and documents, with all entries available for investigation by the competent authorities”, adds the note from Idatha.
