PG Doctors Strike: Assurances Received; PG doctors will withdraw from the strike and return to duty from tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The PG Doctors Strike ended in the state. He will be on duty from tomorrow. The KMPGA said the strike was called off following assurances received from the Chief Ministers’ Office. The CM’s office said it would take immediate action on the stipend hike and allowances. KMPGA will submit a comprehensive report to the government on the workload and shortage of doctors. Meanwhile, police have registered a case against KMPGA Association president Ajith for insulting him.

The Association of PG Doctors had earlier decided to re-enter emergency duties in view of the progress made in discussions with the Minister. PG doctors have been on duty in the casualty, labor room and surgery departments since this morning. Health Minister Veena George has twice called for talks after PG doctors boycotted emergency duties for five days. The government has decided to implement the resident manual in view of the workload and to appoint a special committee to study the difficulties.
