Thiruvananthapuram: KMPGA has rejected Health Minister Veena George. The number of non-academic junior residents employed is insufficient. There is a shortage of thousands of PG Doctors alone. However, it is alleged that only 373 people are being replaced. Thiruvananthapuram Medical College employs only 50 persons. Critics say the 4% stipend increase guarantee was given 4 months ago. In this situation, the PG doctors decided to intensify the strike. More and more organizations, including teachers, have expressed support for the PG doctors’ strike.

The strike by PG doctors in the state, which boycotted all medical departments except Kovid, continues for a second day. The decision to continue the strike was taken in the absence of a discussion. The assessment of the medical colleges is that if the strike continues, there will be a crisis. The government withdrew its move to evict protesters from hostels after criticism mounted. Meanwhile, the government has taken steps to recruit non-academic junior resident doctors, who are the main need of the strikers. The interview will be held on Monday.

The PG doctors are going ahead with the strike citing the lack of clarity in the government order appointing 373 non-academic junior resident doctors to reduce the workload. The decision to increase the stipend and the notice issued by the hostels to vacate the hostels overnight to quell the strike angered the protesters.
