Pilots used to be prosecuted for such frauds

The head of “McLaren” in Formula 1 Zach Brown does not believe in the assurances of “Red Bull” that the team did not break the rules.

It emerged last week that three-time world champion Max Verstappen‘s car had the ability to adjust ground clearance (the distance from the lowest point to the road surface) in indoor park conditions between qualifying and the race.

This is absolutely prohibited by the rules and automatically leads to a penalty. Red Bull admitted to such a device, but explained that it cannot be controlled after the car is fully assembled.

“This is not serious. You can always change something on the car – for example, the driver’s seat, the pedals”, commented Zach Brown. The head of “McLaren” plans to talk about the issue with Mohammed bin Sulayem, president of the International Federation of Motor Vehicles.

“We have seen how teams and drivers were suspended for similar things. I’m not saying Max should be kicked out, but he should be fined commensurate with the offence,” Brown said.
