The state of Sonora has managed to consolidate itself as the number five entity at the national level with the greatest growth in the energy industry, a result of the development of the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan, which has given the leading position to the region in this area, highlighted Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño.
The state leader mentioned that, based on data from the study of the Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in June 2024, Sonora registered an impressive increase of 16.2 percent in its energy production, placing it among the five states with the greatest dynamism in the sector.
This initiative, promoted by Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño, has been key to attracting investments in renewable energy projects, particularly in solar energy, making the most of the state’s natural advantages. The plan has allowed Sonora to become a national benchmark in the generation of clean energy and in the transition towards a sustainable energy model.
Since the beginning of Governor Durazo’s administration, the state has considerably improved its energy infrastructure, supporting the creation of solar plants and promoting the use of natural gas. This growth has not only benefited the local economy, but has also strengthened Sonora’s commitment to sustainability and combating climate change.
The head of the state Executive has highlighted that this progress in the energy sector is just the beginning of a more prosperous future for Sonora, where clean energy will play a key role in its economic and social development.
