TV came much later
Television came to Bhutan after a long time. Before 1999, there were no television sets in Bhutan. The first show telecast here was the final of the 1998 World Cup. Earlier TV was banned here.

GDP is not a measure of development

There are no traffic lights on the roads
There are no traffic lights on the roads of Bhutan. Actually the roads here are very dangerous. One has to drive very slowly and very carefully on these. Therefore there is no need of traffic lights on the roads here.
