Poland calls for resumption of cluster munition production”/>

As part of its containment policy, Poland should develop an arsenal of cluster munitions. The head of the Polish Bureau of National Security (BNB), Jacek Severa, spoke about this in an interview for the newspaper Rzeczpospolita, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

The politician recalled that Poland previously produced cluster munitions and there were still factories in the country capable of returning to this. From a legal point of view, this is possible, since Poland has not acceded to international agreements banning cluster munitions.

According to Severa, Warsaw needs such weapons, as they are effective in deterring a potential enemy.

Cluster munitions are charges filled with a large number of explosive submunitions for various purposes (anti-personnel, incendiary, anti-tank and others). On August 1, 2010, an international convention prohibiting their production and use came into force. The document was signed by 123 countries, but only 111 ratified. Poland, Ukraine and Russia are not among the signatories.

Note that Poland recently wanted to create minefields on the border.
