Ioannina will be the penultimate stop of Polkar’s tour, which will appear on Saturday, April 6 at the “Polychoro Agora”.

With music characterized as “Festival Balkan”, Polkar started out as the musical group of actor Giorgos Papageorgiou, with musician Yiannis Kyratsos by his side. They got their name after a trip the band took to Serbia in 2013. In Slavic, polkar means “drunken dancer who sings polkar”. In their live, they have as their axis the creation of an open musical theater performance in interactive communication with the audience, effortlessly passing through all the musical genres that concern them.
They were created 10 years ago in Thessaloniki, using as raw material for their sound the heavy Balkan air and the glorious years of the ’90s that they grew up in the musical pioneers of Ano Ladadika.
They have released two albums, titled “Everything Begins” and “4+1 Hug Songs” with standout songs “Everything Begins”, “Good Marriage Song”, “Caribbean Girl”, “Love Me Tonight” , “O desmos” in the company of the troubadours company “Trovadouri tis kalas Athens”, “Athens” and others. The song “My life is shit” was released independently as a solo project by Giorgos Papageorgiou in collaboration with Spyros Grammenos, garnering enthusiastic acceptance on Youtube.
“A popular rockstar extravaganza! The super band from Thessaloniki, which caused havoc in the Athenian nights for 10 consecutive years, by popular demand, is traveling all over Greece to meet its audience! You will hear catchy songs, brass in a frenzy, cheetah bombas, outrageous choruses, a rich folk program and unbearable love stories without mercy. They will appear: Crazy fans, random guys, jerks who know someone at the door, psychedelic dancers, God himself. Dress Code: Rhinestones a must. In Polkar’s performance, women’s underwear is thrown in the air during the concert. A man’s underpants are also thrown for reasons of political correctness”, it is mentioned in a note for their live.
