Bayern coach Vincent Kompany and Joshua Kimmich were actually supposed to answer questions about the upcoming game against FC Barcelona. But then a strange situation develops.
A strange scene occurred at FC Bayern‘s final press conference in Barcelona. While Joshua Kimmich was just about to answer the last questions about the Champions League clash against FC Barcelona on Wednesday evening (from 9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online), there was a partial power outage. The backlight on the podium and the microphones failed.
This brought an abrupt end to the press conference in the basement of the Bayern team hotel, the five-star Sofitel Barcelona Skipper. Kimmich continued to talk at first, but his voice could only be heard in the room and no longer through the microphone and the speakers connected to it. Kimmich tried in vain to speak to the wildly discussing Spanish press representatives. Without success.
Bayern press spokesman Dieter Nickles, who sat next to Kimmich on the podium, apologized. “The power’s out. Sorry,” Nickles said. “Someone else is coming. We’ll continue with the coach straight away.” With that he ended the press conference – also to Kimmich’s surprise. “Very nice,” said Kimmich and laughed. Kimmich was thus saved, so to speak, from further questions about his expiring contract and the interest of FC Barcelona, which he had to answer several times before.
“In general, I don’t think about it,” he said when asked whether he could fundamentally imagine a possible move to Barcelona. “You should never rule out anything in life and not in football either.” Both then left the conference room together. After about five minutes, the backlight on the podium came back on.
Shortly afterwards, Nickles returned with Kompany as announced. “We’re back with Vincent Kompany and electricidad,” Nickles joked. When Kompany heard this, he said with a grin: “I hope the power goes out again soon.” And it caused laughter among the journalists present. But his press conference went smoothly. Nickles concluded: “Thank you very much Vinnie. The power held.”
