Tirupur: The powerloom workers union has decided to participate in the labor rally to be held in Delhi on the 5th of next month.
Tamil Nadu Powerloom Workers Federation (CITU) State President Muthusamy and State General Secretary Sukumaran said in Tirupur yesterday:
Thanks to the state government for announcing free electricity for powerlooms, 1000 units. A rally will be held in Delhi on the 5th of next month, emphasizing 14-point demands for the welfare of workers. Five lakh people participate as farmers and laborers.
Powerloom workers from Tamil Nadu will participate in large numbers. A resolution will be passed in the conference regarding the demands of power loom workers including eight hours work, monthly salary of 26 thousand rupees, pension of 10 thousand rupees, free housing and educational assistance.
