“Los Ríos is the engine of the country, Los Ríos stops, the entire Ecuador stops,” said the President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, during his visit to Babahoyo, capital of Fluminense.

The families affected by the winter of the El Porvenir compound, in the Pimocha parish, of Babahoyo, received the morning of this Thursday, February 29, a visit from the president and other State officials.

The head of state delivered more food kits to the victims, personally confirming their living conditions.

After the tour, he held a meeting with several mayors and officials at the ECU911 facilities, in which they analyzed the critical situation in Los Ríos. In addition, the housing construction of six thousand homes was offered for several cantons in the province, as well as the delivery of 2,500 scholarships.

The governor, Edisson Valencia, indicated that in Los Ríos the agricultural sector is the most affected, to date the total loss of 425 hectares of crops has been reported.

The mayor of Babahoyo, Gustavo Barquet, emphasized that only in the rural area of the capital of Los Ríos there are more than 40 sectors seriously affected by winter.

In the urban area, the Paraíso citadel has presented problems because the constant rains have caused flooding in streets and homes.

The inhabitants of the area indicated that they have difficulties getting around.

Residents like Jimmy Reyes asked that walls be built or caisson ducts be placed that allow water to flow and not remain stagnant.

Given the situation, the Municipality will place ballast to mitigate the problem until the winter stage ends and once in summer make a comprehensive solution.
