President Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that despite the economic problems in the country, we started the Aswesuma scheme for the people with low income.

At the same time, the President also pointed out that a program to provide permanent land certificates to 20 lakh people has been started.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe mentioned this while addressing a meeting of political party representatives held at the Kandy Presidential Palace yesterday (07).

Aswesuma Project

President Ranil Wickramasinghe gave further comments here

“With the political upheaval in July 2022 due to the economic crisis, there was also a change in the country’s party system. Today, with the cooperation of all, we have been able to establish economic stability in the country. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect and advance this status.

Some people have not implemented the laws passed by our parliament in the last two years during their parliamentary term.

Despite the country’s economic woes, we started the Aswesuma scheme for low-income people and strived to triple the amount available till then. Also, a scheme to provide permanent land certificates to 20 lakh people has also been started.

It must be said that these are projects that were not carried out when the country’s economy was in order. A majority of Parliament has supported me to continue with these work plans.

United People Power leads

These include a section of Podujana Peramuna, the United National Party and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. People from other parties are also present in it. All these parties should move forward in unison.

Whether it is in Budujana Peramuna, United National Party, Sri Lanka Freedom Party or any other party, it is necessary to decide whether to go ahead with this program of the government or not.

In the past there were divisions in political parties. Some from the budding party went to the opposition. Now that group leads United People’s Power.

In 2020, the United People’s Power had announced that they wanted to capture Sirikotha from the United National Party. But the group known as United People’s Shakti is currently controlled by a group expelled from the Budd Party. Today there is no United National Party in United People’s Power.

20 lakhs land guarantee deed

I, JR Jayewardene, R, Ranasinghe Premadasa, D.B. DP Wijetunga We worked with all of them. The United People’s Shakti has no right to call itself the United National Party today.

Today we have to work together with Podujana Peramuna and Sri Lanka Freedom Party. We should work together for the welfare of the country. Today the political trend has changed. You should all go to the villages.

Out of the 20 lakh permanent land bonds, 10 lakh have been prepared and completed so far. The bonds can be distributed to people within a month.

Therefore, I hope that all of you in this Kandy district will support the program of the government with good coordination.
