Who is Gürsel Dönmez?
Gürsel Dönmez was born on July 1, 1964 in Kırcaali.
His family took refuge in turkey from Bulgaria in 1969 and settled in Bursa. He studied at Sakarya Arifiye Teacher High School and ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences. He went to Vienna in 1987.He completed his master’s degree and doctorate at the vienna University of Economics. He worked as a General Sociology Research Assistant at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University between 1993 and 1998.
he wrote columns for Yeni Şafak Newspaper during its founding years. Between 2001 and 2009, he served as the publisher and editor of Euro Agenda – European Diary magazine.
He worked as a teacher in Vienna. He worked as a manager in the private sector and as the General Secretary of MÜSİAD Austria for a while. After serving as the Austrian President of the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD),he returned to Turkey from Vienna in 2009 as Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister. Dönmez, who also served as the Chief Advisor to the Prime Ministry, was in the 11th place on the AK Party bursa list in the June 7, 2015 election. When the AK Party won 10 deputies in that election,he was left on the edge and returned to his post in the Prime Ministry as Chief Advisor.
Between 2009 and 2015, he served as a Prime Ministry bureaucrat and as a senior bureaucrat on the Balkans and Turks Abroad. In April 2015, he became the AK Party Bursa Deputy candidate.
Dönmez,who speaks German and English,has many articles and books published in Yeni Vatan Newspaper as a guest columnist. Between 2018 and 2023, he worked in the field of Undersecretariat of Education under the command of the Presidency.
