Presidential elections will take place on Sunday in Croatia.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, eight people are vying for the post of head of state: the two favorites are the current President Zoran Milanovic, who was first elected to this position in the second round of the presidential elections held on January 5, 2020, and his main political rival , independent candidate Dragan Primorac, a pediatrician, forensic scientist and medical geneticist, who is supported by the ruling Croatian Democratic Commonwealth party. Also taking part in the fight for the position of head of state will be Miro Bul – representative of the political party “Most” and the mayor of the city of Sinj, Tomislav Jonić – an independent candidate, Ivana Kekin – leader of the left political party “Mozhemo!”, Branka Lozo – vice-chairman of the political party ” DOMiNO”, Marija Selak Raspudić – independent candidate and Niko Tokic Kartelo – independent candidate.

The first round of the eighth presidential election in Croatia will take place on Sunday, December 29. It is expected that Milanovic and Primorac will advance to the second round, which could take place in 14 days. It is predicted that in the second round the majority of Kekin voters, as well as at least half of the supporters, will vote for Milanovic, while the votes supporting Buhl are likely to go to Primorac.
