A 12-year-old boy fell approximately seven meters from the balcony of an elementary school private located in the Roma neighborhood, Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office, Mexico CityTuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred when, according to preliminary versions, The minor was looking out from one of the balconies of the school building and lost his balance. The school, located at the intersection of Jalapa and Durango streets, was the scene of rapid mobilization by the authorities.
Elements of the Roma Sector and the Asturias Sector of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) responded to the emergency call, as did a Civil Protection ambulance from the mayor’s office.
The student’s health status was evaluated at the scene to determine if transfer to a hospital was necessary. According to reports, the family members had already been notified and were on their way to the campus, although due to their work activities, they took a while to arrive.
This accident has raised alarms about security measures in the school facilities, which has not yet issued an official statement. It is expected that in the coming days the school management will announce the actions it will implement to avoid future incidents.
The minor’s situation remains under medical protection while the severity of his injuries is determined.
