Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left on Sunday night after a three-day official visit to Munich, Germany. He was in Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference-2024.

The Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

In bilateral talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Sheikh Hasina called for an end to war, particularly the Russia-Ukraine war and attacks on Gaza.

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and former UK Prime Minister Lord Cameron, current Minister for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development Affairs and German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Swenja Schulze also met Sheikh Hasina.

In a meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister, the Prime Minister emphasized the use of Bangladeshi and Indian currencies, Taka and Rupee, for doing business.

Women Political Leaders (WPL) President Silvana Koch-Mehrin, Senior Managing Director, Development Policy and Partnerships Axel van Tortsenberg, World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Pedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Matter Global Affairs President and former UK Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Sir Nick Clegg also met the Prime Minister.

Sheikh Hasina addressed a panel discussion titled ‘From Pocket to Planet: Scaling up Climate Finance’ at the Munich Security Conference and raised six proposals. He called on world leaders to waive climate finance for affected countries and stop the arms race and put that money into the climate fund.

He attended the reception of Bangladeshi expatriates in Germany and various European countries at the Bergerhaus Gerching Hotel in Munich.
