“Prison for spreading false news” – Turkish government takes action
Turkey’s parliament has approved a new law that will punish those who spread fake news with up to three years in prison.
Turkey’s President Erdogan has accused social media of being a threat to democracy.
In addition to this, the government is currently publishing a weekly list of fake news and its veracity in Turkey.
In this case, the government of that country brought a new law that would punish the concerned person for up to three years in prison for spreading false information.
This has now been approved by the Turkish Parliament.
