The police are continuing the investigation of the accident that happened last night on Route 5 in which two people were killed. A preliminary examination shows that one of the vehicles was stolen a short time before by a resident of the territories, during a wild drive on Route 5 towards the east.

Although no one chased him, the car thief hit the car in the Ornit interchange area. Immediately after, the car thief made a U-turn, under circumstances that are still being investigated, and started driving against the direction of traffic towards the west. During the trip, the car thief hit an Israeli vehicle in front of him head-on, and as a result of the accident the vehicle overturned and burst into flames, and the two drivers of the vehicles were killed.

Traffic examiners of the Israel Police arrived at the scene and are collecting findings, as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Police officials point out: “This is an accident that is really a traffic attack. A car thief who drives wildly and for no reason drives in the opposite direction and collides with a car is a murderer, there is no other definition for it. The incident is very serious.”
