Chennai ∙ LTTE leader Velupilla Prabhakaran, who was killed by the Sri Lankan army 14 years ago, is alive and will return soon, said Dr. Paza Nedumaran, president of Ulaka Tamilazaka Perwai. He is also a former Congress leader who claims to be the unofficial spokesperson of the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) that the conditions are right for Prabhakaran to return. The Sri Lankan army denied the claim.
Nedumaran’s press conference and disclosure was in Thanjavur. Prabhakaran is healthy. He appealed to Tamil Eelam activists and Tamils all over the world to support Prabhakaran and said that Prabhakaran will soon announce the necessary action for the ‘new dawn’ and progress of Tamils. The LTTE did not allow countries that opposed India to set foot on Sri Lankan soil.
However, he refused to provide evidence for the claim that Prabhakaran was alive. Tamil Nadu Congress president KS Azhagiri said that if Prabhakaran comes back alive, he will go and see him in person.

Prabhakaran, who led the armed struggle for the Tamil minority in Sri Lanka, was announced to have been killed by the Sri Lankan army on 18 May 2009 at Mullavaikkal in northern Mullathivu district. A picture of the dead body was also released. But some Tamil nationalists still do not believe this. They believe that Prabhakaran is still alive after escaping from the war zone in 2009.
After India stepped up pressure on Sri Lanka to implement the 13th Amendment passed in 1987, protests led by Buddhist monks began in Lanka.
