Bengali New Year 1431 was celebrated at Shilpakala Academy with punthipath, lalangi, dance and dhaka rhythm.

A folk cultural performance was held on Sunday (April 14) at 11 a.m. to celebrate Bengali life anniversary.

Prominent essayist and trustee of Liberation War Museum Mofidul Haque was the main discussant in the anniversary discussion organized at National Music and Dance Center Auditorium.

Shilpakala Academy Secretary Salahuddin Ahmed presided over the event.

In the discussion, the speakers said, to spread the Bengali consciousness from generation to generation, the tradition of Pahela Boishakh should be highlighted through its multi-faceted rituals. May the Bengali non-sectarian festival Pahela Boishakh come back to everyone in various colors and forms as welfare.

After a short discussion, the New Year ceremony began. In the beginning, the ensemble song ‘Tumi Nirmal Karo, Mangal Karo’ was performed by Shishu Sangeet Team of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Then the ensemble dance ‘Eso Hey Boishakh Eso Eso’ was performed by the Spandan dance troupe.

Promising dance troupe of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy performed Samabet Dhak dance under the direction of academy dancer SK Zahid. Then Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s special performance Cultural Heritage was held.

The children’s dance troupe of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy performed the ensemble dance ‘Amra Sunderer Atandra Parhari’.

Finally, the children’s music group of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy performed the ensemble song ‘Eso Hey Boishakh, come, come’.
