Russia calls for accelerating the process of countries’ recognition of national COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination certificates. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing on Saturday, October 30, to the participants of the plenary session on the global economy and health of the G20 summit.

“I would like to draw your attention to the fact that, despite the decision of the G20, all countries in need cannot get access to vaccines and other vital medicines,” the head of state emphasized.

According to the Russian leader, this situation is developing due to the unpreparedness of the G20 countries for mutual recognition of drugs for coronavirus infection and, in particular, vaccination certificates.

In this regard, Putin urged to instruct the ministries of health of the G20 states “to work out as soon as possible the issue of mutual recognition of national vaccine certificates,” adds Gazeta.Ru.

The President of the Russian Federation also said that the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine shows high safety and effectiveness against COVID-19. He recalled that today this drug has already been approved in 70 countries of the world with a total population of more than 4 billion people.

On the eve of the representative of the Russian leader in the G20 Svetlana Lukash said that the G20 countries share the opinion that the mutual recognition of vaccination certificates would significantly accelerate the economic recovery and improve the quality of life of citizens. However, according to her, at the moment there is no concrete decision on this issue.

On October 27, the head of the laboratory of mechanisms of population variability of pathogenic microorganisms at the Gamaleya Center, Vladimir Gushchin, clarified that the dialogue on registration of “Sputnik V” in the World Health Organization (WHO) is at the home stretch.

Against the background of a worsening epidemiological situation, the Russian authorities are urging citizens to get vaccinated in order to protect their health and take care of their loved ones. Citizens are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
