“I am glad to congratulate you on the opening of new, modern facilities for the serial production of Aurus cars in the Republic of Tatarstan. Undoubtedly, this is a significant event for the Russian car industry, for the domestic industry as a whole, ”Putin said addressing the participants in the ceremony.
He noted that for the first time in the history of Russia, a line of executive class cars was actually created from scratch. A modern unified platform was designed for them, a recognizable design was provided, and a component base was formed.
About 70% of Aurus component suppliers are Russian companies. The level of localization of production is 53%, by 2022 this figure should reach 80%, the president noted. He expressed the hope that the first shipment of cars will be carried out in June and recalled that he himself drives such cars and “has driven himself several times”. “This is a really worthy, high-quality car that meets all world standards,” Putin stressed.
