Rzhev resident Ekaterina Duntsova announced her nomination as a presidential candidate on November 16.
She said she advocated for an end to hostilities, democratic reforms and the release of political prisoners.
A few days later, Ekaterina received a call from the prosecutor’s office and was invited to discuss her publication about the nomination. After going to the police, the politician said that she was asked about her nomination and her attitude to the fighting in Ukraine.
Duntsova’s nomination was supported by the Our Headquarters project, created by a group of employees of the Ark project in October to support anti-war presidential candidates.
Ekaterina is 40 years old and has three children. According to her VKontakte biography, she has been working in the Rzhev media since 2003, and from 2006 to 2022 she was the editor-in-chief of the local television studio “RiT”. In 2019, she was elected to the City Duma, where she served until 2022.
16 people have already submitted documents to participate in the election campaign.
Vladimir Putin, who has ruled Russia for 23 years, the head of the LDPR Leonid Slutsky, public figure Anatoly Rabinovich, as well as Igor Girkin-Strelkov, who is in jail, announced their participation in the elections.
Presidential elections in Russia will be held on March 15-17, 2024.
