Doha: Qatar tightens restrictions ahead of FIFA World Cup

Private individuals and companies are prohibited from using the FIFA World Cup logo on the number plates of vehicles. The government imposed the restrictions after the number plates containing the World Cup logo went up for auction. The government has made it clear that only individuals and organizations associated with the World Cup are allowed to use the logo. Number plates containing the logo are made for special use‌.

It is an offense to use them without permission. The number plates for the auction fetched 1.8 million Qatari riyals. Police have arrested some people for selling clothes emblazoned with the World Cup logo without FIFA permission. Bottles of perfume printed with the World Cup logo were raided at a factory yesterday. Qatar has made it clear that there will be no official perfume for the World Cup.
