The flagship chipset of Qualcomm (Qualcomm) is among the best of the various Android devices, but the rumor mill has already begun about the next generation, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which will bring even more capabilities with an eye toward artificial intelligence.

According to reports, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be based on the 4nm process of TSMC and will introduce some new acceleration cores. Qualcomm usually launches the new kit towards the end of the year, and now it also confirms the more specific time window and some additional details.

Don McGuire, Qualcomm’s VP of Marketing, posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will arrive this October when it will be presented at the annual Snapdragon Summit. It’s not really a big surprise since both Gen 2 and Gen 3 were revealed in the month of October of the previous years.

Some interesting details about the new chipset were also revealed. Among other things, she combine 4 or 6 Oryon cores, which are considered a significant upgrade to the neural engine. According to the company these cores will bring Performence extremely high.

The story behind the Oryon core is rather intriguing. The chip was originally designed by Apple’s former chief architect, Gerard Williams, who left the company and founded Nuvia in 2019. Qualcomm later acquired Hibra in 2021, and the same team developed the Oryon processor. It is integrated into the processor Snapdragon X Elite Designed to compete in the computer market and specifically against Apple’s M processor series.

But it is possible that even before that Qualcomm will announce a mid-range model that will be slightly lower in comparison ل-Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It may include a Cortex-X4 core with a clock speed of 2.9 GHz while the Adreno 735 chip will be responsible for the graphics. It will be called Snapdragon 8s Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Lite.
