Lauren Manzo, a familiar face from the hit reality TV show Real Housewives of New Jersey, is getting a divorce from her husband of eight years, Vito Scalia. The news broke after Scalia, a restauranteur, filed divorce documents citing “irreconcilable differences” in New Jersey on September 5.
According to court documents, Scalia claimed that he and Manzo had ongoing problems for at least six months, which ultimately led to the breakdown of their marriage. On September 29, Manzo was served with the court papers detailing their impending divorce.
The former couple is parents to a six-year-old daughter named Marchesa. Following the divorce proceedings, a lawyer representing Manzo assured the court that he would represent her in future legal matters regarding custody and support. Manzo’s lawyer also mentioned overseeing financial issues such as alimony, equitable distribution, and counsel fees.
Scalia had previously submitted a Marital Settlement Agreement to the court in July, indicating that the divorce had been contemplated for some time. Despite their impending divorce, it appears that the former couple still resides together in Wayne, New Jersey, as their addresses listed in the divorce documents are identical.
Manzo, who has been open about her weight loss journey, indirectly touched on her marital troubles earlier this year when a fan asked about her husband’s whereabouts on social media. She replied that she is allowed to keep aspects of her life private, especially after having a child.
Lauren Manzo and Vito Scalia originally tied the knot in June 2015 at St. Cyril’s Church in New York City, followed by a reception at The Brownstone Restaurant in Paterson, New Jersey. The wedding ceremony was filmed and broadcast on Bravo, allowing fans to witness their special day.
The couple initially met through Manzo’s brother Albie, who was a classmate of Scalia’s at Fordham University. They got engaged in November 2013, and their relationship seemed to be going strong until rumors of marital discord surfaced in January 2018. Scalia denied the rumors, stating that they simply preferred to keep their relationship off social media.
