It has been cloudy in Chennai since this morning and it has been raining heavily since this afternoon. Areas including Ambattur, Tiruvallikeni, Anna Road, Thiruvananthapuram, Denampet, Marina Beach, Pattinapakkam, Mylapore, Manthaiveli, MRC Nagar, Adambakkam, Kelambakkam, Korukkupettai, Villavakkam, Ayanavaram and ICF will receive showers.

The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur districts for the next three hours. This is because a Red Alert has been issued for these four districts.
