“I said, when we were negotiating the agreement on competitiveness, that (…) I would link 30% of this variable remuneration to the fact that Renault first signs the agreement and then that it honors all its commitments in the agreement”, explained the boss of Renault on Wednesday. “Now that the agreement is signed, it is effective,” he added. In 2011, the variable part of Carlos Ghosn’s salary as CEO of Renault was 1.59 million euros and the fixed part was 1.23 million. He also receives substantial compensation as the boss of Nissan.

Ghosn’s proposal had provoked strong reactions. Starting with that of the Minister of Productive Recovery, Arnaud Montebourg: “It will help, but it is not enough.
