Chairman of the House Oversight Committee James Comer said he plans to invite US President Joe Biden to testify as part of the impeachment commission’s investigation.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, the Axios portal reported this.

“In the coming days, I will invite President Biden to appear before the Oversight Committee to testify,” Comer said.

He added: “I assure the American people that they will be able to judge for themselves the integrity of the President and his fitness for the office he now holds.”

The statement was made in connection with hearings with former partners of the president’s son, Hunter Biden. They repeated statements they had previously made privately: the president had discussed business with his son Hunter. Both Bidens have previously denied this.

The White House criticized House Republicans for not stopping the impeachment investigation.

“It’s a waste of time. It’s time to end this sad farce. There are real problems (…),” White House Oversight and Investigations spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement.

Republicans have been conducting an impeachment investigation for months, which has largely focused on the business dealings of members of the Biden family and are trying to find a clear connection between Joe Biden’s actions as vice president and his son Hunter.
