The finance minister said that in the current fiscal year (2023-24), the revenue collection target from the Internal Revenue Department (part of the National Board of Revenue) has been set at Tk 430,000 crore and for stamp duty (Inland Revenue Department’s own target) at Tk 13,617.57 crore. . The total revenue target of the internal resources department has been set at four lakh 43 thousand 617.57 crores. 87.70 percent of the revenue collection target has been achieved till December 2023 for the financial year 2023-24.

Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali said that in the six months of the current fiscal year (July-December), the amount of tax revenue collection (National Board of Revenue part) is 1 lakh 65 thousand 629.75 crores and 1 thousand 626 crores of stamp duty has been collected.

He said that during this period (July-December) there is a deficit according to the tax revenue target. The amount of which is 23 thousand 227.19 million taka.

Currently, the number of income tax return filers in the country till January this year is 36 lakh 62 thousand 81 people.
