If temperatures rise further, it will pose serious risks to health and food supplies. Exceeding this limit will result in increasing droughts damaging biodiversity.
This was stated by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, President COP29 Mukhtar Babaev during a speech at the International Baku Forum of Ombudsmen, Day.Az reports with reference to Trend.
He noted that if measures are not taken to combat climate change, water shortages and changes in weather conditions could lead to long-term consequences.
“In Azerbaijan, climate change is also causing serious damage to agriculture. The number of hot and dry winds has increased 14 times. And hail incidents have increased by more than 3 times. Water reserves in Azerbaijan have decreased by 15 percent. In recent years, the level of the Caspian Sea has also been seriously declining “, added M. Babaev.
It should be noted that the International Baku Forum of Ombudsmen began its work on the topic “Climate Change and Human Rights: The Role of the Ombudsman and the National Human Rights Institutes.”
