Pink Reveals Neck Surgery, Declares “Rock ‘n’ Roll is a Contact Sport”

Pop superstar Pink underwent neck surgery on New Year’s Eve, sharing a candid update with fans on Instagram about the procedure and her outlook for the year ahead. The singer revealed she received “two new shiny discs” in her neck, a decision she framed as a necessary step in prioritizing her well-being after a challenging year.

The artist, who largely remained out of the public eye in 2025, detailed a year marked by both profound loss and unexpected beauty. “Leaving behind all of my hurt in 2025,” she wrote, describing the past twelve months as running the gamut “from absolutely devastating to mildly annoying.” Despite the hardships, she emphasized the importance of cherishing everyday moments – “loving my children and helping them to follow their dreams,” as well as the simple joys of “loving and laughing, cooking and dancing.”

Pink acknowledged experiencing significant personal changes, stating she “said goodbye to incredibly important people, and I said hello to new ones.” This period of transition ultimately led her to focus on her physical health. “I end the year giving reverence to, paying attention to, and to fixing my body,” she explained. “It may not be a fancy Face lift, but I am getting two new shiny discs in my neck. A new scar, a new reminder, that I appreciate this vessel that I have and use it for all it’s worth.”

The surgery, she hinted, was a consequence of her demanding career. “Rock ‘n’ roll is a contact sport,” Pink quipped, contrasting her hospital stay on New Year’s Eve with her family’s snowboarding trip. Despite the solitary circumstances, she expressed optimism for the future, believing that 2026 “is going to be better because that is the choice that I have made.”

Looking ahead, Pink outlined a commitment to positivity and resilience. “I’m going to choose positive thoughts over negative ones,” she declared. “And I’m going to rage against the dying of the light. I’m going to reclaim my wild. And I’m going to keep searching for the light, even as I experience the darkness.”

Prior to the surgery, Pink had a limited performance schedule in 2025, appearing in just four shows, including a benefit concert at FireAid in January to support victims of the California wildfires. This followed a period in 2024 where she postponed several US shows “beyond her control” and cancelled another performance on doctor’s orders due to an unspecified health issue, suggesting a pattern of prioritizing her health amidst a rigorous touring schedule.

The singer’s open discussion of her health challenges resonates with fans and underscores the physical toll that a life dedicated to performance can take, even for the most resilient artists.
