Washington,

Rohingya Muslims living in Myanmar revolt against the Myanmar government. This was followed in 2017 by the Myanmar military’s offensive against the Rohingya.

More than 10,000 Rohingya were killed in the military offensive during Aung San Suu Kyi’s rule. Millions of people fled Myanmar following the attack and took refuge in various countries, including Bangladesh and India.

Meanwhile, hateful comments have been circulating on social media in Myanmar before the military launched an offensive against the Rohingya.

Opinions that incite violence and attack against the Rohingya people have been shared by the majority of people in Myanmar through Facebook. It took Facebook a long time to remove these hateful comments.

In this context, there are allegations that Facebook did not immediately remove posts that were published in 2017 inciting violence against the Rohingya people. The lawsuit alleges that Facebook incited violence against Rohingya and demanded $ 150 billion in damages.

Some of the Rohingya Muslims currently living as refugees in the US and UK are suing Facebook for damages. There have been separate lawsuits in the United States and the United Kingdom. Rohingya refugees have sent notices to Facebook regarding these cases.
