Russia and Kazakhstan closely cooperate in the space industry; the launch of a Kazakh cosmonaut into orbit is currently being discussed, stated General Director of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov in a commentary to Izvestia.

“We are discussing the issue of launching a Kazakh cosmonaut into orbit, so we have very close cooperation,” he said.

In addition, Roscosmos received, according to Borisov, a request from the Kazakh side to develop a communications satellite. The entire world astronautics began with Baikonur, which Russia leases from Kazakhstan, he added. Today, all manned flights of the Russian Federation are carried out from this cosmodrome, the head of the state corporation recalled, the possibility of conducting such launches from Vostochny has not yet been realized.

At the end of October, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia should think about exporting its space services to the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS. The head of state noted that the markets of Asia, Africa, and Latin America are now developing more actively, and organizations are ready to form new segments of the economy and increase their technological potential. Russia, he said, should support this desire.
