The government opposed giving Roskomnadzor (RKN) the right to seize software and hardware from IT companies if the work of their recommender algorithms potentially violates Russian law. This follows from the government’s opinion on the upcoming draft amendments to the law “On Information”, which regulate the work of advisory services (a copy of the document is at the disposal of Vedomosti). The fact that the draft conclusion in this form is sent for approval for subsequent publication is also known to the interlocutor close to one of the Internet companies.
The corresponding draft conclusion was considered and approved at a meeting of the RF Government Commission on Legislative Activities, a government representative told Vedomosti.
