In the wake of this, Coleba called on the G7 countries to impose tougher sanctions on Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky called the incident genocide.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Irina Venedikova says the bodies of 410 victims of the massacre have been found. The Russian Defense Ministry denied the allegations, saying they were another provocation. Ukraine says it has regained complete control of Kyiv. Russia has reportedly withdrawn from nearby areas of Kiev, including Bucha. It is expected to focus on the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.

Ukraine has accused Russia of carrying out the massacre amid a month – long occupation and retreat. The Associated Press reports that the bodies of nine victims were found with their hands tied behind their backs. U.S. and EU officials protested the incident. Human Rights Watch has accused Russia of committing war crimes in Ukraine.

Russia, meanwhile, has claimed responsibility for a series of missile strikes on the Black Sea coast of Odessa.
