Russia announced the thwarting of a large-scale attack launched by Kiev using more than 100 drones targeting 14 regions and the capital, Moscow, days after Russian missile and drone strikes targeted Ukraine.

The attacks came about a week after Russia launched nearly 200 missiles and drones towards Ukrainian territory, in one of the largest attacks since the outbreak of the war more than two years ago.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had neutralized 158 drones, most of which were shot down over the Kursk, Bryansk, Voronezh and Belgorod regions near Ukraine.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said ten drones targeted different areas of the capital.
Russian authorities reported in particular a fire at the Kaputnya oil refinery, owned by energy giant Gazprom, southeast of Moscow.
According to Sobyanin, the fire was caused by a downed drone.
The mayor of Moscow later said the fire had been located at the oil refinery and that “there is no threat to people or to the operation of the facility.”
In the Tver region, northwest of the Russian capital, five drones targeted the area where the Konakovo power plant is located, causing a fire that was quickly brought under control, according to Governor Igor Rodinia.
Mikhail Shuvalov, a local official in the Moscow region, said three drones had tried to target the Kashira coal-fired power plant. “There were no casualties or damage,” he wrote on Telegram, and the plant did not catch fire.
