Kyiv: The Kerch bridge connecting the Crimean peninsula with Russia was partially destroyed in the explosion. The bridge was destroyed in an explosion on Saturday. No one has claimed responsibility for the blast that killed three people. The speaker of Crimea’s Russian-backed regional parliament has accused Ukraine of being behind the blast. But Russia has not yet made an industrial response in this regard.

The explosion took place in a truck traveling on the bridge. Then the fire spread to seven wagons carrying fuel. Two parts of the bridge partially collapsed in the blast. Russia stated that rail traffic has been restored. The Kerch bridge and energy infrastructure between Crimea and Russia have been beefed up in the wake of the explosion. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decree in this regard. Russia’s Federal Security Service, the FSB, has been entrusted with the task.

Within hours of the blast, Air Force Chief General Serhiy Surovik was handed command of Russian forces in Ukraine. Surovik, who led Russian forces in Syria, is the man accused of overseeing the bombing that destroyed much of Aleppo.
